Peyton Manning is beloved by everyone because he makes funny commercials and seems like a likable guy. Well he is a crybaby that pouts and runs away after losing. In case you didn’t see it he walked off the field without shaking hands or congratulating his opponent after last night’s Super Bowl loss. Hey Peyton grow a sack, fill it with some nuts, and go out there and act like a man.

That doesn’t make him a cry baby. He talked about it after the game. The fans had rushed the field and it was crazy!
I bet Drew Brees didn’t give a shit that he didn’t shake his hand….he was busy celebrating.
Oh yeah, And I love his commercials. They are freaking hilarious!
Sorry it does. I don’t care how busy the field is, how much confetti is flying, or how pissed off you are. You learn it when you are 5 and you do it at the end of every game.
Take your damn hat off and shake hands.
Remember how it was a big deal when Lebron did this? Is Peyton to popular to be accountable for his actions?
AGREED!!! I think that is a huge disrespect to Drew Brees, Sean Payton, and the entire Saints team. What a little f’ing b!tch!
Ok, I am as big of a Peyton Manning hater as anyone (ok, I hate the whole Manning family) but I think everyone, including you, are making too big of a deal about this. Who cares if he didn’t shake anyone’s hand, I’m willing to bet that Brees and the rest of the Saints couldn’t care less, they had bigger things going on. Plus, do you blame him for getting pissed off? He cost them the damn game. They could have tied it with a touchdown but he threw a pick 6. I would have been pretty damn pissed too.
Like I said, I hate him as much as anyone and I’m glad he lost, but everyone is really making a big deal out of a meaningless incident. Its over, the Saints won and we all got what we wanted. Let the Manning bashing go until next season.
You know your dad would have torn you a new one if you walked off the field after losing a game and didn’t shake hands with the other team. Just because you are upset doesn’t mean you don’ thave to do the right thing.
I do have to agree with everyone… As mad as someone can be, there is still a level of professionalism and respect not only for yourself, but for the game your playing. I agree with Adam wether my boy is 5 for 35, POOR PLAY ON PEYTON’S PART. How about that for some alliteration.
Although the blog is a little harsh on Peyton (as much as I don’t like him)
Surprise! Yes, I agree, with what????? Unlike Ryan I have total respect for Manning & the entire Manning family. They are good caring people and I have nothing but total respect for Peyton and his professionalism. He has been a total class act since he walked into the league and is one hellava a QB, the absolute best there is.
However, he should have held his head up high and walked out on the field and congratulated Drew and Payton and the rest of the Saints for a game well played. He played one hellava game himself!!! And, should be proud of what he did.
But, being the man he is I’m 100% sure he was really pissed off at himself and thinking he cost his team the game with that pick 6 with 5 minutes to go. So, he was frustrated (I would have been) and down on himself. While that’s no excuse, I’m sure in the near future he will call Brees and eventually congratulate him. They are after all, pretty close friends.
That being said, Peyton Manning is one guy who can be looked up to as a role model in this crazy world of sports that is generally dominated by primadonna, egotisticle criminals! Give the guy a break, he just lost a Super Bowl by throwing a bad pass! And, even though he will take the whole brunt of the heat for that throw, Wayne was just as much to blame for the pick as Manning was for throwing the ball!!!!
And, Adam, you’re 100% right too. I would’ve ripped Ryan a new a-hole if he’d have walked off the field after losing a game hanging his head, not congratulating the other team on their win. But, he is my son, and I tried to teach him how to be a good sportsman and show respect for his fellow human beings, even when they bested him.
And for the record, Dave you did a damn good job teaching me sportsmanship. I would have good up to Drew and shook his hand after the game, at least I’d like to think I would have, and it would have been the right thing to do, but its a non issue. One incident like this shouldn’t tarnish the reputation of being a professional and a good sport that he has earned over his 12 year career. Its something that isn’t worth talking about and I’m mad at myself for even discussing it here.
I want to clear something up. I have total respect for the Manning family. They are a very talented bunch (Eli’s overrated though). All I am saying is that I don’t cheer for them and I smile a little every time either one of them loses. Hell, I am the one on this site that has been arguing with Adam on why Peyton is one of the best ever.
Fase, I respectfully disagree, I think because it is Peyton Manning they aren’t making a big enough deal out of it. I, like you, despise the entire Manning family (even the dog), but always respected Peyton for his talent. I have definitely lost that respect for him. What if the tables were turned and Brees had done that? Media outlets and the Colts faithful would be calling for his head, or atleast a public apology! Peyton acted like a spoiled brat who didn’t get his way. I don’t care how pissed off you are, you man up and congradulate the other guy for playing one helluva game.
Bailey, we are good friends but you couldn’t be more wrong. The only reason anyone even mentioned it is because its Peyton Manning. If Peyton would have gotten hurt and it was his backup that did that no one would have cared or even said a word about it. I bet there were several Colts players that didn’t congratulate anyone from the Saints. The only one we’ve heard about is Peyton because he is Peyton Manning. Everything stars like Manning, Brady, and Favre do is being watch and scrutinized by everyone. Lesser players can get away with behavior like that because without the big name to put in the story no one will want to read about it or discuss it.
For those of you wondering who I am, I’m Adam’s uncle. Grew up a Chicago fan and still am. Big Florida State fan as that is where I went to school and have lived for 42 years. If you want to see poor sportsmanship, check out Steve Spurrier even after he wins! But I digress. Everyone here has made valid arguments. I’ve seen this debate after every major championship game that was closely contested. I concur with both sides of this argument, however I’ve got to agree with David on this. Given the craziness going on after the game, I doubt Manning could get to Brees. One thing that the pros do often is speak before the game at some point and agree to speak again a day or so after the game when emotions have settled down. I’m sure this will happen if it hasn’t already. As for the game, I agree with David again relating to his comment on Reggie Wayne. I thought he was dogging routes the entire game. I think he played with a lack of intensity since he was not being thrown to much. Congrats to the saints and it’s on to baseball. Go Cubbies.
Whether the others are mentioned or read about or discussed doesn’t matter. What Peyton, or any other player, did was wrong and they deserve the wave of shit that comes with it.
I was just talking with you about an article I read about how Manning off cameras isn’t the poster boy everyone believes him to be. The article said he is unfriendly and arrogant and his manager has one hell of a time keeping up his image.
If that is true, and this type of behavior is typical of him then why does he deserve any respect at all.
Fasel, maybe you are right, because it IS Peyton Manning and all eyes are on him. Which is exactly why HE of all people should have shown the respect and sportsmanship to congratulate Drew Brees. Peyton knew Brees outplayed him and couldn’t take it. Peyton’s head is as big as Dallas’ Stadium and he can’t take being #2. Maybe I am being a little bit harsh, but I spent a good part of yesterday listening about Manning and his “legacy” and not much about Drew Brees starting his own legacy as one of the best quarterbacks in the game. Unfortunately for Brees and any other quarterback such as Rivers, Rogers, Sanchez etc. as long as the media whores Favre and Manning are around they won’t get the credit they deserve.
Come on man…please..enough of this touchy feely shake hands BS. All this praying on the field shit…this is the NFL..be mean and wrotten your getting paid to kick ass and win..take it in and hold it as fuel for next year…all this Mr. nice guy crap is BS. I wouldn’t have walked out there at all…I would have acknolwedged Brees as Manning did, later! All th
Mike,
That’s right this is the NFL and you should be mean and rotten on the field.
But just like Joe Green in that coke commercial you can be a rotten bastard on the field but a good sport and good guy off of it.
