Go Cubs Go! Yesterday the Cubbies real Ace Randy Wells took the mound, but struggled through 5 innings giving up what I figure was going to be too much to overcome for the soft bullpen and slow bats, but the Cubs pulled out a come from behind victory, lifting them above division rivals the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ryan Theriot & Kosuke Fukudome came through with strong bats in the eighth each knocking in 2 with 2 out singles to show the Brewers that although we may not have had it all together so far this year we are not going to lay down and take a loss.
The Cubs pen didn’t look good, but I will steal a saying from the lowly White Sox this year the Cubs are winning ugly. Jeff Gray came in in the 8th and immediately gave up 2 triples before getting through the inning and sitting through a great comeback display of patience by the Cubs. The Marmol came on and closed out the 9th by striking out the side including Braun and Fielder the Brewers best hitters.
The setup role is still in limbo, but it looks like Marmol now with 3 saves is definitely going to be our strong closer.
The Cubs finish up the series with the Brewers today at 1:20 with Big Z taking the mound once more looking for his second win of the year. Let’s Go Cubs.
