I don’t know what to say about the Cubs today, I guess there is the fact the they are lovable … right? Yesterday’s game against the Diamondbacks was pathetic to say the least.
It was just 3 days ago that I was saying I felt comfortable with where the Cubs were sitting in the division. 2.5 games back of the Cards, on a win streak and looking like they were going to have something going as we build toward the warmer months of the season. And then out of nowhere the bats just go cold again.
The Cubs have now dropped 3 games straight in a demoralizing 13-5 loss against the D’backs where basically if you hit the ball in the air it was leaving the park, but for some reason the Cubs couldn’t hit the ball in the air. To take a loss at home where you should have the advantage when the wind is blowing out really stings.
Now the pitching yesterday obviously was shaky at best, but I am still not to worried about the quality of our starts, although Lilly gave up 6 runs yesterday the 3 consecutive losses have come on the back of the offense not the pitching. Both Gorzelanny and Dempster threw gems in the first two losses of this stretch, but with little to no runs support (the story of this season) the Cubs haven’t been able to put together a W.
Let’s hope that we can get our new hitting coach to do his job and he can find out what the Hell is going on with our bats, because if we continue to lose ball games in which our pitching staff goes 7 innings and gives up 2 runs it is going to make for a long season.

Cubs blow!! Stop living the pipe dream and get real. The cubs are a rich man’s hobbie like every other chicago team. Wrigley is the worst place to see a game unless you want to sit for nine innings hobknobbing with clueless yuppies dreaming of the World Series and smelling piss all day. You are never going to a world series–get over it. Zampuke-o is overrated and overpaid. I miss the days of a drunk ass haray caray mis-pronouncing names, making mistakes, and being loaded to boot–it was funnier than watching caddyshack stoned to the be-jesus. This site is great and Fanbrew rules like looking at the top of the homecoming queen’s head going up and down with a Heineken on her head. Go Irish!!!
Hey STAMZ69, you have some points here I do have to agree…, Wrigley is falling apart, but I disagree, the place is awesome to catch a game.
What I do agree with you is the fact hat Cubs announcing is awful, the place is a wreck and, it smells like urine…. I also agree fanbrew rules, and taking a line from the The Rock…

Thank you gentlemen!!!!
Petry, I enjoyed you taking a line from The Rock and is original, but I was hoping for the Sean Connery viewpoint on hitting women as they never know when to let it go kind of like Cubs fans and this world series guff that we sports fans have to hear about every year by the clowns known as the Chicago media. Blow Cubs Blow–hey shitcago–whadya say–Cubs are gonna Blow today!! Peace out!!
Boo!
Cubs 4 Life. Or at least that is how long I will have to wait until I see them win a championship
I am a huge Cubs fan and I know they haven’t done well historically, but you have got to love the atmosphere of Wrigleyville and the ambiance of Wrigley.
Even if the stadium is falling apart in concrete chunks I would rather watch a game there than at US Comiscular anyday.
