Figure 8 Tasting & A Weekend Update

Hey everybody, I was just wondering if any of you made it out to Trail Inn yesterday to the Figure 8 brewery tasting. I had a few minutes last night before I had to head out for the evening and stopped in and met Tom for the first time and had a couple of quick tastes before I picked up a growler of their Rye Not.

I tried all 4 of their brews, and they are pretty good, defintely well made but not exactly all my favorites tastes, I wish they had an amber, pale, or IPA as those are my brews of choice. However The Rye not was definitely my favorite as it had some really great flavors so I picked up a growler and plan on doing a brew review of it today. In fact I have 3 or 4 beers that I plan on sitting down and reviewing today becuase I need to get you guys some new content.

Elsewhere in the world the Chicago Cubs Bullpen blew another lead, making my blood boil. I know the bats have been slow and that scoring 2-4 runs a game isn’t going to get you many victories in today’s MLB, but continuosly losing leads in the 8 & 9th will be the downfall of the Cubs season before anything else.

Sox lost too, but I dont’ really care about that other than to point out that whoever slid into first trying to beat out a ball is a tard and they should be fined for it. Sliding slows you down; it is a fact. Don’t slide into first.

Bulls Lost to the Nets, the worst team in basketball which proves there is no reason to even talk about this team moving on in the playoffs.

Let me know in the comments below are you a Sox fan, Cubs fan, do the Bulls have a chance, and what is your favorite locally crafted beer. Mine is 327 from Brickworks in Hobart, but I am looking forward to the efforts that Figure 8 has to come. If you haven’t subscribed to the site be sure to do it. 1. Hey Adam, Made it to the tasting last night. I must of just missed you. My favorite was the Camp 4 with the coffee flavor. Have fun with the growler as I was informed they wouldn’t keep for more than a day once opened, although I have seen you do a 1/2 gallon without problem. I ended up settling for a 6 pack of Ranger IPA.

  2. Did he say why it would only last a day? I am assuming the carbonation, but I just poured a glass 24 hours after opening it and it is as good as it was yesterday.

    • It was due to carbonation issues. The growlers were low on carbonation to begin with, at least from what I sampled. I assume the beer will taste flat after a day’s time being opened.
