The Brew Review: McSorley’s Irish Pale Ale Review

Whats up guys and gals? Welcome back to the brew review, as you can see we are back today doing a good old fashioned writtern review. Sometimes I just can’t find the time to record the video, it just gets in the way of my drinking. Anyway I kind of like this more as it really gives me an opportunity to sit down and enjoy the beer before I tell you my toughts on it. So let’s get into it…

McSorley’s Irish Pale Ale pours a great copper/light brown color and has absolutley great clarity. Sitting atop the brew is a nice 1 finger creamy white head. As I swirl the glass a bit the head builds into a little thicker and darker cream color. The nose is dominated by noble hops which was a surprise to me, and after reading some of the reviews on beer advocate something I feel like was a major player was never mentioned in anybody elses reviews. I was expecting a maltier nose, and I found very little hints of that.

The first thing you notice is that the mouth feel of this beer is great. It really coats your mouth well and has a great medium. On the palate is where the malts really come through. The flavor reminds me of a west coast style pale ale. It has a certain sweetness to it that comes from what I think are caramel malts. The finish lingers subtley with a smooth hint of hops.

All in all I would say this beer is a definite thumbs up. I really enjoyed it and give it 3.75 out of 5 stars. The color, clarity, nose, and palate are all well balanced and make the beer easy to drink. If you can find it go out and get it. But that may be the tough part. I bought the only bottle that Trail Inn had in Valpo.
