Perfectly Imperfect

Had enough of of umpires, referees, and officials yet this year? Well if you haven’t then you missed Jim Joyce’s call last night in which he robbed Galarraga of a perfect game. To Joyce’s credit he has apologized to Galarraga and has completely taken credit for blowing what was pretty much a blatantly obvious call that he just missed. Check out the video below.

Good, the call shouldn’t be overturned that is part of the game. However I do think this is a reason to expand instant replay.

I think it should be overturned. What harm does it do to change it. You take one at bat away from a guy that grounded out anyways. The outcome of the game doesn’t change. Hell, the final score doesn’t even change. For once Selig could try not being a dumbass and use some common sense. The kid earned his perfect game. I know changing the call would be a first, but a perfect game lost on a completely blown call with 2 outs in the 9th is also a first.

However, if the Indians would have rallied for a win then I wouldn’t change it. Too much would have to be undone, but in this case there isn’t much changing to do. Like I said, you are only changing 1 at bat.
