I’m Taking My Talents to South Beach

Thanks to Chris Askew for coining Lebron James’ term “I’m taking my Talents to South Beach” as an euphemism for beating the bishop.  There have been a lot of comments popping up on Fanbrew, about taking our talents to South Beach…. So I thought I’d write a quick article about some other high profile sports athletes who either left their prospective home teams or got caught taking their talents to South Beach (That’s the TMZ in me…sorry)!

I’ll hit the highlights….

Players who left their teams:

Brett Farve left the Green Bay Packers in 2008 for the New Jersey Jets.

Shaquille O’Neal left the Olrando Magic for the Los Angeles Lakers

Johnny Damon left for the Evil Empire that is the New York Yankees

Pedro Martinez left the beloved Red Sox for the New York Mets

Lebron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat

The Beach Combers…….

April of ’08, charges were filed against, Penn State basketball player, point guard Stanley Pringle, for giving a pretty young lady a tour of South Beach in the campus library.
August of ’08, Nebraska University, two wrestlers including a former national champion were dismissed from the wrestling team after nude pictures of themselves showed up on an Internet pornography site, allegedly performing on South Beach (separately of course)!

May of ’09, Buffalo Bills, Corey McIntyre, was arrested for allegedly showing South Beach to a 59 year old woman in Port St. Lucie.

May of ’10, Lawrence Taylor, Former NY Giant, NFL Hall of Famer’s defense in a under age prostitution case is that her was just taking his talents to South Beach, not pleasuring the sixteen (16) year old girl!

I love the fact that Fanbrew.com, was one if, not the 1st, with Chris’ help of course (much respect) to coin the phrase “I’m taking my talents to South Beach.”  Personally…I love it!!!! Hopefully you guys will be able to hit a few more sports highlights that I might have left out.  Until next time…….I’m thinking about hitting the beach!  Be sure to vote below….I want to see if you guys think Lebron’s Term “I’m taking my Talents to South Beach is Disrespectful to Cleveland Cavalier Fans?

All this LeBron talk is really getting on my nerves…. Instead of calling LeBron a “quitter”, we should be praising the man for putting Cleveland back on the map. I’m a LeBron fan. He made the decision best for his career and he left Cleveland in order to do so. You don’t have to play in your hometown to win. Michael Jordan was born in New York and raised in Charlotte, he killed NY back in the day, and neevr stepped on the court as a Hornets player. Kobe, from Philly, has 5 rings as a Lakers player.
*I’m from Cleveland and a Cleveland fan saying this, I wish Clevelanders would stop because us bashing him is only going to get worse.
*LeBron never QUIT in Game 5, Boston just wanted it more than we did.
*Why isn’t Chris Bosh receiving the same treatment as LeBron for leaving? He left too, but isn’t getting called a quitter.
