Nothing quite like a winter in Northwest Indiana. Sometimes it’s warm, sometimes it’s freezing, everytime people completely forget how to drive in snow. In order to get through the winter season you need a great winter seasonal brew, and there is none better than the always available, always inexpensive, Sam Adam’s Winter Pack.
I take that back, there are some better than Sam Adam’s, I went with Sam in our article today because I noticed that we often talk too much about beer that is impossible to acquire. As you get more into beer you will notice that you too will tend to seek out rare and expensive beers to try. But it isn’t any fun to talk about them when the only other people that have tried them are huge beer nerds like yourself, and not the average Joe beer drinker.
So instead let’s focus on the stuff that everyone knows and loves. The Sam Winter Seasonal pack is available everywhere for probably about $15.00 a 12 pack in which you get 3 bottles of 4 different beers. The Chocolate Boch, The Old Fezziwig Ale, The Holiday Porter, and The Winter Lager.
To me, these are all exceptional brews. Fezziwig is the one that I would really like to buy individually outside of the variety pack, and the chocolate bock is one that I would love to be able to get my hands on all year long, unfortunately I can’t. Damn you Boston Beer Company! Fezziwig is a great ale that has a huge malt base and some seasonal spices coming through. I would really love to drink this one by a camp fire at the end of fall. The chocolate boch in my opinion could rival any chocolate stout on the market. It honestly taste like a Wendy’s Frosty, the perfect dessert beer.
But I want to know what is your favorite Sam Adam’s Winter Seasonal and why, be sure to tell us below in the comments. Also consider that pic above another inspiration for you to get over to my beernography post where you should be sharing your beer pics and stories for a chance to win a little prize from us at fanbrew.

As someone that had one of each of those last night, it’s tough to pick. I really liked the Chocolate Boch, I’ve never really had a chocolate beer that I’ve actually enjoyed, but this one is damn good. I would love to finish off dinner with one of those on a more regular basis.
While all were outstanding, if I had to pick one I would probably go with the Winter Ale. You don’t need to purchase a mixed pack to get it so its by far the easiest to get your hands on and has a great flavor this year. That being said, I will be buying more Winter Packs this year so I can enjoy them all.
Boy they were tasty on Tuesday weren’t they. I was just impressed with our ability to stop before being hammered. This drinking a few good beers rather than 15 Light Beers is a good thing.
Chocolate Boch! My 2 favorite things in one bottle! We buy the whole pack just to get 2 of these beers.
