Hello everbody, and welcome back to the Brew Review!

WARNING THIS VIDEO IS A HOT MESS!

Continue if you like watching me make a fool of myself. I can’t get the beer open, I stab myself, it is a week old, Owen is screaming in the background, the beer is just ordinary.

END WARNING

This beer is ”pleasant” which really means I have no complaints about it, but nothing stands out to me.

The Pour

The Extraordinary Ale pours a beautiful gold color with a nice white foam head on top of it and a body that is extremely clear. I was expecting a little bit of a darker color something with an amber hue to it, but to my surprise Matt & Phin’s pours like on of our staple domestic light lagers.

The Nose

The nose is very nice. Floral, sweet, and hoppy. A caramel malt and some hops. A pretty simple clean nose that leads into a pretty simple clean beer.

The Palate

I started off a little more excited about it than when I finished. It had a real good malt base on my first sip, but as I drank further I found a little bit of a lacking body, with light alcohol, and a little skunkyness. My guess is they snuck a little European hops in there.

Overall a 3.25 out of 5 beers. It was pleasant and drinkable, had decent flavor, but lacked a little bit on the body for me.

I left the region, that is what we call this part of Indiana, to appeal to the masses and where better to go than a St. Louis brewery? In this review I taste an American Sytle Pale Ale, so no more complaining Dave unless you hate America, named Schlafly.

About The Saint Louis Brewery

The St. Louis Brewery has a history that can’t be described in a small paragraph on this page. Check out their site to get the whole story. St. Louis Brewery History

Here is a little qoute to get you started.

The Beginning
The Saint Louis Brewery, Inc. was incorporated in 1989. The goal of Tom Schlafly and Dan Kopman at the time was to produce good, local, microbrewed beer for sale in the St. Louis area. They began to look for a suitable building and investigated and explored countless locations.

About Schlafly Brand Dry Hopped APA

This beer comes in at 50 International Bitterness Units and like all India American Pales Ales has a pretty high alcohol content of 5.9%. This APA is dry hopped which means dry hops are added to the beer after it has been brewed which ads bitterness and extracts the fruity flavors in the beer more.

My Review

This Is An Unbelievable Beer! Review Over.

Nah I can’t do that, so lets start with the pour. This beer has a huge head. If you are not careful you are going to over flow your glass, I did. And just for Freddie I stuck my nose in it and it was big time pine needles.

For $10.00 a 6 pack this beer delivers well more than what it should at it’s price point. The taste just backed up those pine needles and threw in some pear, maybe apricot. The bitterness is more than most of you newbie craft brew drinkers will like, but it is right up my alley. The hops are heavy and they leave the tongue with a bitter taste well after you have swallowed. So I guess my buddy Adam P. was right I am a masochist when it comes to beer.

This is a serious beer for those of you that have progressed passed the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to the Sierra Nevada Torpedo you will probably like it, but if you are still dancing around with the wheat beers then this may be a little outside of your range quite yet.

But I would definitely recommend it to all of you craft beer lovers. This beer gives you the bang for your buck, with so many $12 – 14.00 6 packs out there you can’t beat one that comes in at $10.00 with flavor like this.
