In today’s post I am reviewing Carta Blanca, a Mexican import. Carta Blanca is a Mexican style lager that most of you have probably overlooked on on liqour store shelves because you consider Corona to be a good beer and always pick it up. Well I hate to break it to you, but Corona isn’t. It is time you expanded yourself beyond the typical beers you buy and experience more of what Mexico has to offer.

About Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma

Cerverceria Cuauhtemoc is the Anheuser-Busch of Mexico. This brewery was founded in 1890 and produces 3.09 Gigalitres of beer a year in basically all of the Mexican imports you are accompanied to seeing on our liqour store shelves and when you go on spring break in Cancun.

About Cart Blanca

Carta Blanca is the Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma’s original premium beer. Carta Blanca is a tradtional Mexican style lager that contains 4.02 ABV.

My Review

Carta Blanca reminded me alot of traditional American style lagers when I poured it into my glass. It has a light golden color and really does resemble your MGDs and Budweisers. With that said however it isn’t an American lager, and its nose and taste bring a distinct difference.

After pouring the beer you will notice that the little amount of head the you get disappears pretty quickly, and doesn’t come back. But you can’t judge a beer by it’s head. On the nose you get a good sweet smell that reminded me of Chardonnay. It smelled of white flowers, pears, and maybe even a little green grape.

The taste of the beer totally backed up those flavors. The flower component while still present drifted away, but the pear/grape flavor gave the smooth lager and hint of sweetness that was quite pleasant. The beer was crisp and refreshing and would definitely be a great change of pace for anyone that is looking to drink a domestic lager, but wants a little something extra.

Enjoy this beer by the pool and put on a Hawaiian shirt. Put the party lights up on the deck, invites some friends over and show them that you aren’t the just the pretentious ass that buys the standard Corona and Heineken imports. Show them that you are a beer guy.

Have you had Carta Blanca? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments below, and if you enjoyed this post be sure to subscribe so you get all of our article sent directly to you by email.
