Hello everybody and welcome back to the Brew Review!

In today’s video there is a cat moving the camera, I have the giggles, I can’t think, and a mystery hand takes my beer from me. Fun! But once you get passed all that you will find a tasty surprise in the Killian’s Irish Red, so let us get in to it.

The Pour

It is red, but I bet you already knew that. Big foam sat atop my glass as I get pour happy and almost over flow it, but the head drifts off pretty quickly and leaves no lacing behind. The color was actually a little lighter than I had expected it to be, but the amber color with the nice carbonation make the beer look good.

The Nose

A very floral nose that reminded me of spring time and hope springs eternal. Whatever that means. All in all the nose was very pleasant big flowers mixed with some biscuity malts fill the nose up nicely.

The Palate

I have had Killian’s 100 time before, but it has been a long time since I have actually tried one and boy was I surprised to find that it was quite fruity. I am astonished reading other reviews of Killian’s that nobody mentions this. Most people say it is earthy and has a very caramel malt flavor, but I don’t agree. I guess my palate interprets things differently because I got a big grape and raspberry component with a slight wheat malt base.

The carbonation and thin malts created a little dryness to the finish, but I was completely floored by the sweet fruity flavor that dominated my palate. I compared it to Leini’s Berry Weiss in the video and stick to it. I know that is probably a huge exaggeration, especially if you were to line the two of them up and taste it, but it is fruity.

Give Killian’s a try, it is everywhere and relatively inexpensive. I would love to hear if you agree with me or the vast majority of people. I just don’t see caramel, I see grape, and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

As far as rating goes 3 out of 5 beers. Delightful to drink and could really help welcome in spring.
