Whats up internet? Welcome back to the Brew Review. It today’s edition I taste a New Grist Beer.

New Grist is a Sorghum Rice beer that is absolutely Gluten free. Sometimes you have to go out of your way to try new things and although I didn’t have high hopes for how this beer was going to taste I definitely wanted to give it a try just to say that I have had it. So let’s get into it and see what it brings to the table.

The pour of is ridiculous. Grist is so clear it is almost color less. You will get a head the dissipates to nothing as quickly as it forms. I am not sure it you can tell from the picture or not, but the clarity is crazy.

On the nose Grist is also very disappointing. It is very sweet and dry. It reminds me of a mixture of my Mr. Beer home brew and a Sapporo. Which I guess is good and bad as Sapporo is another rice beer.

The taste of the New grist on the other hand is not good at all. In fact I don’t think I will be going on a limb today when I say that this beer justs tastes bad. In fact it is much like my home brew in that the lack of flavor and over carbonation make it almost completely undrinkable.. I am not sure what else is really going on in this beer. I just don’ t like it. If I force my self to concetrate which you should never have to do while drinking be I kind of get a floral sweet and strangley bitter tast. I don’t like it at all. Major pass.

This will by far be the lowest score ever given on the site, but Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee you missed the boat big time 1.0 out of 5 stars. Dont’ drink this even if you can’t have Gluten.

Last week I got a comment from Jason, thanks Jason, wondering if I was ever going to leave the States with a beer review. Well it just so happened I got the opportunity this weekend as we went out with some friends for dinner at Little Toyko and had some hibachi and sushi. So let’s get into it.

About Sapporo Brewery

The Sapporo you drink here in the States comes from Sapporo US that has been around since 1984, but is part of the original Sapporo which was founded in Japan in 1876. Sapporo has quickly become the most popular Japanese import in the US, with Saporro Premium being an annual best seller.

About Sapporo Premium

Saporro Premium is Saporro’s namesake beer. It has been around since 1876. Sapporo is a rice beer that contains 4.9% alcohol by volume.

My Review

This wasn’t the first time that I have had Sapporo, but it was the first time I drank it with my review in mind. In fact last time I was at Little Toyko I tried something else because of Sapporo’s lack luster performance. But I thought why not give it another go for Fanbrew’s sake.

I wish that I hadn’t. From the pour Sapporo is nothing more than an average golden lager. The beer had little to no head that disappeared immediately and no nose whatsoever. After a few drinks you can pull out a little bit of rice flavor with something that tastes like dry apples. Basically if you boiled rice and threw an apple core in it you would get this beer.

If you are out to drink a good import that has some body and some flavor I would avoid Sapporo. You can find many imports with a lot more flavor.

If you have had Sapporo Premium let me know what you thought of it in the comments below. If you liked this article ans would like to read more. Subscribe to get updated every time we write a new post.
